Santo Mine <br>- New Construction

01. General Description

Santo Mine Oia Suites is a luxurious boutique hotel situated at the grounds of a former stone mine area. The accommodation includes 37 suites harmoniously integrated in the island’s endemic flora, with verdant plantings gracing the rooftops, fostering an intimate bond with the natural landscape. The selection of plant species prioritized native and adaptive flora, which require minimal irrigation and thrive in Santorini's arid climate. Strategies such as minimal irrigation and plumbing fixtures with high efficiency aerators resulted in vast minimization of water consumption. Besides the suites the amenities are comprised of office units, restaurant, bar and spa, all located within the same plot. The plot, being at the edge of the hill, was designed to be grated so as to fully benefit the breathtaking views of Oia’s sunset. Innovative practices have been incorporated to the design supporting the building’s energy efficiency and natural environment features through the utility of architecture, that combined both the aesthetics and the restoration of habitat. Through large windows, in most interior spaces, an unobstructed panoramic sea view is provided allowing natural light to fill the rooms. Moreover, energy-efficient lighting fixtures with low consumption are strategically placed to complement natural illumination. The facility operates entirely with green energy from renewable sources, practically allying to the sustainable principles of the company's character. Extensive reuse of on-site materials from excavation phase and use of local natural materials has been selected in order to ensure that the structures blend seamlessly with the natural environment.
